Playboy Offering Broadcast Content Through Internet in Poland

LOS ANGELES — Adult giant Playboy is partnering with Warsaw-based ASTER to deliver television content through the Internet.

With the pilot project, a television signal is transformed into IP transmission and then passed via an Internet network to all connected ASTER subscribers. It can then be seen through the Internet browser using the RealPlayer application.

It is the first time that the capabilities of IP Multicast technology have been applied in Poland. ASTER chose Playboy as its first channel for its service.

Playboy TV's programming includes movie premieres, documentaries, series and reality shows. The channel will be available to monthly subscribers and can be accessed via www.aster.pl.

ASTER is the largest operator of cable television and broadband access to the Internet in the territory of Warsaw and surrounding areas, including Piaseczno and Wolomin.

It provides its services to approximately 280,000 cable television subscribers, 33,000 digital television subscribers, 65,000 Internet users and nearly 10,000 digital telephony customers.

Playboy TV International operates Playboy TV, The Adult Channel, Spice Extreme and Climax in Europe. The service also is available on Sky Digital, NTL and Telewest platforms in the U.K.
