Webmaster Access L.A. Wraps Up

LOS ANGELES — Day three of Webmaster Access L.A. gave adult industry professionals the opportunity to offer advice to colleagues on how to monetize and generate traffic by using all of the resources available to them in a time of recession.

The first seminar moderated by Derek Meklir of Playboy’s online division featured Reena Patel of JennaCash.com, Albert Lazarito of AdultStarProfits.com, Douglas Richter of AWEmpire and Tela Andrews of AshleyMadison.com.

Richter, a 13-year veteran in the industry, told XBIZ he really wanted to stress the importance of strategic partnering while respectfully debating the many ways webmasters can get the most bang for their buck.

“The most important element of monetizing traffic is establishing partnerships with people that are passionate and don’t mind doing the heavy lifting,” he said.

During the modestly attended seminar, Patel discussed the importance of making a website easy to navigate, citing different connection speeds, browsers and international consumers as issues to keep in mind.

“Keep it simple, lose the graphics so people find your content easily,” Patel said.

After the seminar, attendees gathered by the indoor bar at the Sheraton to further discuss events of the day, future plans and most importantly, business.

The afternoon seminar moderated by Tom Hymes and featuring Dave Levine of SexToy.com and Jay Quinlan of OCCash turned into a back and forth discussion comparing cross sales and upsells within paysites and novelty retail sites.

Quinlan discussed how he’s had to change his business model to accommodate today’s consumer, describing it as “extra work” and branching out into other arenas such as managing talent.

Levine described the benefits of upsells to his novelty business. He said by simply offering products that compliment the original sale, such as batteries for a vibrator, he is able to generate extra revenue.

After a day of seminars, fans rushed to meet and get autographs from the one and only Jenna Jameson and met up with other attendees for the delicious BBQ offerings provided by XBIZ.

Sexy CECash girls dressed as police officers guided visitors to tables, where the talk soon became about tonight’s big blowout at the Playboy Mansion.
