The XBIZ Weekly Tech Watch

Apple dominates this week's tech watch, with news about the new iPod Shuffle, as well as a roundup of all the latest developments with the iPhone.

• Here's this week's iPhone update: The third version of the iPhone operating system software is on the way. Gizmodo has chosen its iPhone apps of the week, including what may be the first adult app for the device: iSperm. Unfortunately, iSperm is only an animated adventure that asks users to guide a friendly sperm cell to its goal: fertilization. Also, a new app lets users send and receive files between iPhones with Bluetooth technology.

• Also in Apple news, CNET has a review of the new iPod Shuffle. In addition, there's already a device for the new iPod Shuffle that transforms it into a portable USB jump drive.

• YouTube appears to be bringing back the status bar for video uploads.

• Twitter power users have a new tool in Twitmatic.com, which makes it possible to surf around for videos while on Twitter. Another new plugin for Twitter users is called SearchCloudlet. It's an extension for FireFox that lets users search Twitter through a tag cloud.

• Here's an interesting new service: Aardvark, located at Vark.com, which lets users ask their extended social-networking friends list for questions. It's in an invite-only testing phase.

• Looking for tickets? FanSnap.com has joined the nbattle for ticket-buying traffic.

• Yahoo has introduced a new service called FireEagle that lets users tell their friend (and other trusted businesses) about their location.

• Adult industry members who like to use Facebook might see their jobs get a little easier if the leading social-networking site adds so-called vanity URLs to its service. If they do, then industry professionals would be able to give out a simple web address like Facebook.com/yourname at public events.

• Industry professionals who feel powerless in this recession might want to check out these tough new gadgets, or these new deals.

• Users of the TinyURL service will soon have a new choice when Su.pr launches. These services let users convert long web addresses into more manageable strings of characters.

• MobileCrunch has a preview of the iPhone-killing Palm Pre device.
