Mustang Studios Gets Dirty With 'XXX'

SAN FRANCISCO — Performer-director Steve Cruz has wrapped "XXX" for Mustang Studios with videographer and co-director Leif Gobo. The all-male film is a break from the "Color Box" trilogy the pair had been helming for Mustang, a series that includes "Blue Movie" and "Red Light."

Mustang is a subsidiary label of Falcon Entertainment. "XXX" is scheduled to street April 28, to be preceded by a web-exclusive, "pre-release" vignette on the official studio website featuring "XXX" castmates Derek da Silva and Scott Campbell.

Additional players in the film include veteran performers Vinnie D'Angelo and Arpad Miklos with Scott Alexander and newcomers Race Cooper, Colby Keller and Cole Streets.

"We wanted to strip away any theme or story, any elaborate sets, even the wardrobe," Cruz said, "and just highlight the chemistry and beauty of male-on-male action."

In keeping with a gotta-have-it trend towards extreme fetish in gay adult, Cruz said "XXX" includes "an electricity fetish scene that packs so much heat it explodes on film — literally. This could be a porn first."

"It was very liberating to strip away even the minimal concept of our Color Box movies and concentrate solely on great bodies and great sex," Gobo told XBIZ. "Here, I got to take a less deliberate, and more fluid, even voyeuristic approach to the camerawork."

Cruz told XBIZ the final film in their Color Box series is provisionally titled "RGB" after the red-green-blue primary color model used for the display of images on videotape and computer monitors. "Green is an interesting challenge, but we're up for it. Expect a darker theme, but I don't think we'll abandon our sense of humor, or our focus on what porn should be all about — the sex."

In the meantime, Cruz enjoyed stocking "XXX" with new talent. "In this film we have a few fresh faces for the fans, including a screaming hot scene featuring my new discovery, Race Cooper, with Scott Alexander,” he said.

“I've been wanting to shoot two sexy black men together and we couldn't have found two men more gorgeous and into each other. I'm also really excited about Colby Keller's scene with Arpad Miklos."
