Of the 176 total Cal-Vista Classics titles, 113 of them have never been released on DVD. These eight February releases bring the total of Cal Vista Classics on DVD to 90.
"We’re not doing a chop-shop treatment to these important classics. Many of these titles won or were nominated for adult awards, and we're going to do them justice, even if it takes a while," VCX president David Sutton said.
The first four come out on Feb. 17: "Lorelei," "Pleasure Palace," "The Second Coming of Eva" and "The Other Side of Julie."
Kay Parker headlines the cast of "Lorelei," directed by Jack Remy, with Lois Ayres, Scarlet Scarleau and Rikki Blake. "Pleasure Palace," directed by Carter Stevens, stars Serena and Veri Knotty in a tale of gangsters taking over massage parlors. Eva is sent to boarding school by her sister in "The Second Coming of Eva," which stars Penthouse Pet Brigitte Maier, Teresa Svenson, Monica Anders and Suzy Anderson. John Leslie and Joey Silvera own an escort service that caters to women in "The Other Side of Julie." Leslie's wife, Suzanne French, is unaware of her husband's line of work. Adult industry historian Jim Holliday called attention to this film in one of his "Only the Best" compilations.
The second wave will be released Feb. 24: "Angel Above — Devil Below," "French Teen," "Here Comes the Bride" and "Little Angel Puss." “Angel Above, Devil Below” is an X-rated take on "The Exorcist," with Rene Bond, Linda York, Maria Arnold and Starlyn Simone. "French Teen" features 10 sex scenes and stars Sharon Mitchell with Jacqueline Matine, Susaye London and Paula Morton. "Here Comes the Bride" stars '70s Hall of Famer Samantha Fox, with Clea Carson, Colleen Anderson, Karen Havens, Paula Morton and Vee Summers. "Little Angel Puss," directed by Danielle Denueve, revolves around a teenage girl's exploration of her sexuality. Joan Devlon, Mira Vane, Sharon Thorpe and Susan Catherine star. In March, VCX's Cal-Vista Classics line will release the award winning "The Joy of Fooling Around," shot on the Greek island of Mykonos and featuring a rare performance by short-time performer Monique DuPrez. "This is the most incredible library never to be released on DVD in existence," Sutton said. "We’ve just touched the surface here."
