‘Lovelace: A Rock Opera’ Gets Extended Run

LOS ANGELES — “Lovelace: A Rock Opera,” a musical production centered on the life of “Deep Throat” star Linda Lovelace, has been granted an extended run by the Hayworth Theatre in association with Roz Bernstein Productions.

The show, which opened in Los Angeles Oct. 18, will now play at the Hayworth Theatre through Feb. 28.

Directed by Ken Sawyer and starring newcomer Katrina Lenk as Lovelace, the show has performed to sold-out audiences and been hailed as “sensational” by LA Weekly and “heartbreaking” by Variety.

Critics have also noted that the show, written and scored by Charlotte Caffey, founding member of the Go-Go’s, and Anna Waronker, founding member of That Dog, is “not anti-porn,” according to the Los Angeles Times in a Critic’s Choice review.

“The show takes a nonjudgmental attitude toward porn and an unyielding stance on female exploitation,” said the review. “It’s remarkable how well it works.”
