U.K. Retailer Clonezone Facing Financial Woes

LONDON — The U.K.’s Clonezone, a prominent gay adult retail and distribution chain, has gone into court receivership, according to a newspaper report that cited the company’s “insurmountable financial difficulty.” Clonezone operates 10 brick-and-mortar locations around England, as well as a distribution business, retail website and mail order catalog.

“After the recent hemorrhaging of money that the high street has seen with casualties including British staples Woolworths and MFI [furniture outlets] going bust it was only a matter of time before more niche and specialist retailers such as Clonezone were also hit,” Pink News said.

Clonezone, which will continue operations without being liquidated, has been a highly visible member of the European gay adult entertainment community for more than 25 years. They stock a wide variety of novelties, lubricants, books, magazines, and other related products, as well as branded novelty lines from Colt Studio Group and TitanMen.

DVD labels carried by the Clonezone chain include Cazzo Films, Colt Studio, Factory Video, Hot House Entertainment, Raging Stallion Studios and Treasure Island Media, among others.

The company most recently served as a sponsor of talent-search contest Europe’s Next Gay Porn Star.
