The Colonial House Motel has drawn complaint from the surrounding south Dallas neighborhood because, according to locals, its TV signal could be picked up on mobile devices nearby.
That TV signal included adult movies, and that nearby neighborhood included an elementary school.
City officials have issued an order to close the motel immediately, even though the TV signal has been shut off. According to local police, the motel had contended with prostitution and drug arrests for the last few years.
“You just think that when you send your children somewhere, you expect it to be a safe haven," said one local resident. "The last thing you expect is something like that to be happening.”
