Gay Adult Stars on Display in Photobooks

SAN FRANCISCO — Photographers Joe Oppedisano and Kent Taylor will make a joint in-store appearance at Does Your Mother Know in San Francisco on Saturday to meet fans and autograph copies of their new photobooks. They will be joined by performer Steve Cruz, the cover model for both books.

Oppedisano’s “Uncensored” was released by Provocateur, while Taylor’s “Magnum” is from European publishing house Bruno Gmunder.

Including Cruz, both books feature an array of gay adult performers.

Taylor is a principal with gay adult company Raging Stallion Studios, while Oppedisano has shot glamour photography for Mustang Studios, Lucas Entertainment and Raging Stallion.

“I have had my work featured in calendars and greeting cards,” Taylor told XBIZ. “But this is my first photobook. The photography is slightly outside of the official work I do for Raging Stallion.”

Taylor told XBIZ he is drawn to “dark, moody” themes. “When shooting the porn work, I’m creating tools for marketing and promotion. I know this; it’s my job. So I don’t always get to be as moody as I’d like because it’s not appropriate for the project.”

When he concludes publicity photography, Taylor will “frequently get really creative and play with the light and the poses. That’s the work that ‘Magnum’ was drawn from.”

Earlier this year, Oppedisano signed on to co-direct and shoot photography for Mustang’s upcoming feature “Blue Movie.” The studio called his work “raw, bold, uninhibited and masculine.”

Does Your Mother Know is located at 4141 18th St. in San Francisco.

Ordering information for “Magnum” can be found at Gmunder’s wholesale distribution website, and details about “Uncensored” can be gleaned via Provocateur’s official Myspace page.
