After the Storm, Adult Industry Responds

LOS ANGELES — After a massive tsunami ravaged coastal areas of southern Asia and Eastern Africa last December, an abundance of adult-oriented businesses responded to the tragedy, raising and contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars toward relief efforts.

Now, the industry is once again raising money to fund humanitarian aid in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

“This industry comes under fire from time to time, but when turbulent times arise, we are one impressive group,” Corey Wayne of Wegcash said. “Louisiana is my home state, seeing New Orleans in the grasp of such chaos and despair is heartbreaking.”

Wegcash is teaming with Jettis and Epassporte on just one of the many fundraising efforts being run by adult companies to help aid victims of the New Orleans tragedy.

Wegcash has refocused the website Webmasters4America.com, originally created in the weeks following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, turning it into a portal for adult industry professionals to make donations to assist the region.

As part of the effort, Wegcash will match the first $40,000 donated via webmaster4america.com. Jettis will follow suit by matching the first $10,000 and providing billing, while Epassporte is donating cash and waving processing fees.

“We want this viewed as equal efforts and something we hope more programs support in their own creative ways,” Wayne told XBiz.

Others are lending their support in many creative ways. Here’s a quick look at how other adult companies are pitching in to provide money and goods to help relieve the devastation caused by the storm:
