FSC Begins 2006 Board of Directors Nominations Process

CANOGA PARK, Calif. – The Free Speech Coalition has released its 2006 nominations schedule for people interested in serving on the FSC Board of Directors.

Board members are elected by the full FSC membership and serve two-year terms. Current members are allowed to run for consecutive terms. This year, seven of the Board’s 13 seats are up for grabs.

The FSC election schedule is staggered, beginning with open nominations. Top nominees are then included in the final ballots along with current board members seeking reelection.

Following is the 2006 Board of Directors nominations schedule:

  • Oct. 17 – Nominating ballots snail mailed to FSC membership
  • Nov. 7 – Nominating ballots return date deadline
  • Nov. 15 – Final ballots snail mailed to FSC membership
  • Dec. 6 – Final ballots return deadline
  • The 2006 Board will be announced in January at the FSC annual membership meeting Las Vegas.

The Board of Directors oversees all FSC activities and functions, including strategic planning, approval of annual budgets and periodic review of strategic goals.

Board members also sit on six supporting committees: the Executive Committee, the Government & Legal Committee, the Membership Committee, the Internet Committee, the Fundraising Committee and the Public Information Committee.

The Board meets bimonthly, and all members volunteer their time.
