Lockwood, SexZ Pictures to Document the Decline of Western Civilization

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — SexZ Pictures has given first-time director Kurt Lockwood the green light on “The Decline of Western Civilization Part 69: The Porno Years,” an ambitious project that will provide a time capsule of today’s adult movie industry and its relationship with the rock scene.

Lockwood told XBiz that the idea was inspired by the popular series of “Decline of Western Civilization” rock 'n' roll documentaries.

“I was a big fan of the first [“Decline”] movie, and I thought it would be cool to make a movie that could combine that style of filmmaking with what we do, and add sex to it,” Lockwood said.

Lockwood stressed that the documentary will be, first and foremost, a porn movie, with plenty of sex, but that it also will provide a “snapshot in time” with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the major stars of the day.

“In some ways, porn is the new punk because it reflects the essence of rebellion even better than a musical form that’s been assimilated and commercialized,” Lockwood told XBiz.

“We’re going to try to capture the real lifestyles of those who love a sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll existence,” he added.

The storyline will follow the lives of several porn starlets and musicians who share “a common, yet often distant, theme of soul searching as they attempt to become the next big thing in the unforgiving Hollywood entertainment scene.”

Band mates Samantha Ryan and Monica Mayhem will expose their lives to the probing cameras, showing the good, the bad and the ugly.

The movie’s thematic buildup will revolve around a live benefit concert on Aug. 26 at the club King King in Hollywood. Proceeds from the night’s event will go to the AIM Healthcare detox bed program developed by Sharon Mitchell.

Sex Z Pictures’ owner Bo Kenney noted that the movie is a departure from its couples-friendly porn. The Sex Z Gonzo division typically releases edgy, all-sex titles, but Kenney was excited to see what Lockwood could do with a topic that matches the sexual and personal intensity of a documentary-style movie.

“We’re having an excellent year and it was time to throw the dice and do something totally unexpected,” Kenney said. “Kurt Lockwood has an incredible past with the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, which will lend itself to making this movie the real deal. We know the sex is going to be amazing, and once he adds in the rock-and-reality footage, this will be a big time project.”

Sex Z Pictures will release ‘The Decline of Western Civilization Part 69: The Porno Years’ this fall.
