With estimates for the mobile adult explosion hovering at around $1 billion by 2008, according to the Yankee Group, 110 Media joins the likes of Vivid Entertainment, Playboy Enterprises and Hustler in offering mobile content and billing services to the global market.
U.K.-based BabeCell, a subsidiary of Celestial Transactions, will provide mobile access to all of the company's MobBucks content.
"We were trying to reach the SMS market and we were looking for the most complete platform available," 110 Media's Mark Tiarra told XBiz. "We didn’t want to go through the hassle of converting the content ourselves, we just wanted to hand it over."
According to Tiarra, MobBucks content will now be available for download in Europe, Western Europe and parts of Asia. Paysite members can access content from their mobile devices and non-members can join via their mobile devices. MobBucks-generated pictures and video can purchased via micropayments and then charged to the end user's mobile billing company.
"I kept hearing people say that they were making significant revenue through this type of distribution, so we've gone ahead with it and think it will be successful in helping us reach markets like Hong Kong where we're seeing unusual traffic converting success," Tiarra said.
110 Media, a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq, recently acquired Web1000, a free hosting service with more than 450,000 hosting customers currently using its system.
