Opera 7.60 Offers Dynamically Resized Web Pages

OSLO, Norway — Opera Software announced this week that its new browser release in January will include a feature for enabling a web page to fit a screen regardless of its size.

Opera 7.60, which makes horizontal scrolling obsolete, uses Extensible Rendering Architecture, or ERA, that enables surfers to view pages on any hardware, including mobile devices and televisions. The browser supports multiple platforms including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

“[E]RA means that users can have a great Internet experience on any screen regardless of a web page's width, tables or frame," Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner said in release.

Von Tetzchner said the new release also includes performance improvements, a ramped-up user interface and new voice browsing capabilities, which allow English-speaking users to speak commands to navigate web pages as well as to have the content of pages read through text-to-speech technology.

Opera 7.60’s technology also solves common printing problems, von Tetzchner said. ERA can resize a page to fit the paper's width.
