Michael Brandon Arrested on Drug Charges

SAN FRANCISCO — Popular performer Michael “Monster” Brandon has been arrested and faces a variety of felony drug charges. The SF Weekly alternative newspaper has chronicled his descent into drug addiction and subsequent arrests in a story titled “The Rise & Fall of the Monster.”

“Monster” is a reference to the nickname given to Brandon’s appendage.

The article by Ashley Harrell described Brandon as looking “careworn, emaciated” at a recent court appearance in San Francisco.

“Aside from a reporter, nobody seemed to suspect this man might be a beloved San Franciscan gay porn icon with a 10-inch cock nicknamed Monster and a line of dildos created in its likeness. This guy now looked like a withered character in a Tim Burton film, nothing like the wiry blond stud who twice took home the highest honor in gay porn, the GAYVN Performer of the Year. It was conceivable that this wasn't the man at all.”

At one time Brandon was among gay adult’s most popular and prolific performers. Between 1999 and 2006, he shot over 150 features as a performer and director.

Brandon additionally maintained a popular website, made numerous personal appearances and marketed a popular line of sex novelties, particularly dildos.

His first foray into gay adult included two films shot in 1989. However, in 1990 and again in 1997, Brandon was convicted on drug possession charges and eventually spent three years in jail.

Brandon maintained his sobriety following his release from prison, and served as the public face of public service campaigns educating the gay community on the dangers of drug use, particularly crystal meth.

Upon his release, Brandon re-entered the adult industry and ultimately partnered with Raging Stallion Studios, where he became part owner in 2002. He was also given his own label, Monster Bang Video, and made his debut as a director the following year.

Raging Stallion has not yet released an official statement responding to Brandon’s situation.

In the SF Weekly article, co-owner Kent Taylor recalled that Brandon began calling in sick to work in October 2007. He stopped returning phone calls and soon vanished.

“He was a partner. He’s still one of the owners of the company and he’s just disappeared,” Taylor said. Brandon was eventually replaced.

The SF Weekly notes he spent “most of the past year…in motels and on the streets, injecting himself with meth and getting involved in drug deals.”

Following the conclusion of a court hearing earlier this summer, Brandon “expected to go directly to a motel to shoot up. It's not something he's proud of, but he can't manage to stop yet. He seemed to be in disbelief that it had come to this.”

When he returned to the courthouse for another hearing on September 26, he was arrested on new possession charges and faced a $50,000 bail. At press time, the SFPD had released no new information about his case.
