Video: 'Sasha Grey' Screens at Venice Biennale

VENICE, Italy — A short film bearing the name of Sasha Grey has been screening this week at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture at the Venice Biennale.

"Sasha Grey," the short film, follows another film by director Richard Phillips that portraits a mainstream star, Lindsay Lohan.

In "Sasha Grey," Phillips takes on the mainstream actress, adult film performer and electronic industrial musician Sasha Grey.

Phillips says the film is inspired by Grey's transformation from porn star to actor. She recently played the leading role in Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience."

“For my film portrait of Sasha Grey, I wanted to focus on her expressive and psychological transformation into a cinematic actor, separate from the cues that have associated Sasha with her previous career as a performance artist working within the adult film world,” Phillips told V Magazine.

The video was filmed on location at one of Los Angeles' most famous houses — the Chemosphere House designed by the late architect John Lautner.

The octagon Chemosphere House, located  off Mulholland Drive at 7776 Torreyson Dr., faces Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, where it overlooks Ground Zero for porn shoots.

The home is perched atop a concrete pole nearly 30 feet high and reached by a funicular, which plays its own role in the short video.

Since 2000, the home has been owned by Benedikt Taschen of German book publishing company Taschen.
