Sexpo Reports 70,000 Attendance in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Australia — Organizers are saying that the 13th Club X Melbourne Sexpo was a huge success, with more than 70,000 patrons spending in excess of $3.25 million during the four-day show.

“This was a brilliant show for the retailers at Sexpo with patrons spending big and retailers literally running out of stock," Rob Godwin, General Manager of Sexpo, said. "In addition to record attendance, Sexpo.com.au received more than 30 million hits during November. It was great show for the sponsors, patrons and exhibitors.”

Australian adult trade group Eros Association, which sponsors the Australian Sex Party, exhibited at Sexpo in Melbourne.

“Sexpo and the Australian Sex Party shows Australian’s relaxed attitude to sex and sexuality and that many politicians and political parties are out of touch with this generation: the majority of new members were under 30," Eros Association CEO said. "It was an overwhelming success and successful launch to the our new political party”

High-end toy company Lelo collaborated with Sexpo to hold a major competition with a $17,000 18k gold vibrator as a prize. The vibrator was featured in TV ads, billboards, radio ads and print press.

“This was a great show for Lelo branding and general exposure. We have had inquiries from as far away as Colombia and Europe regarding this promotion," said Jo Radnidge, sales and marketing manager of Lelo Australasia. "Sales of the Lelo range were at an all-time high.”

Sexpo, based in Melbourne, will hold its next show in Brisbane, Australia, in February and Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, South Africa, throughout 2009. The company plans to export the brand into Europe and the U.S. in 2010.
