Adam & Eve Posts Increase in 2nd Quarter Sales, Profits

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Adam & Eve announced an increase in sales and profits today for its 2010 second quarter fueled primarily by online sales.

The company posted a three percent overall increase in sales and a seven percent spike in profits over second quarter 2009. Internet sales from AdamAndEve.com were up eight percent during the second quarter of 2010.

Adam & Eve Internet marketing manager Rich Atlas said, "Operating in a highly competitive space, Adam and Eve has found rank and revenue success with organic search; we attribute our success to a long term keyword and content driven strategy that embraces customer needs while meeting search engine requirements."

“As a company that is continually profitable, we are very pleased with the second quarter 2010 results,” said Chad Davis, director of marketing.

Davis added, “We attribute these numbers to the continued growth of online sales. Once again, natural and organic search results improved dramatically, 150 percent without adding any direct advertising cost.”

In addition, sales from offline marketing such as radio and television increased 14 percent over second quarter 2009 while sales from the traditional paper catalog continued to decrease.

“The transition from catalog orders to website orders is something we have both seen and anticipated for some time," Davis said. "We believe this shift toward online sales is both because longtime customers are converting from the catalog to the website and because new customers are hearing about AdamAndEve.com for the first time from new and developing marketing channels."

He added, “The huge variety of quality adult oriented products, as well as the ease and anonymity offered through ordering from the site continues to be the reason we remain successful.”
