Standard Innovation Says Legal Action Against LELO Continues

OTTAWA — Standard Innovation Corporation, the manufacturer of the We-Vibe family of sexual wellness products, has issued an update about the status of its legal actions against LELO.

According to Standard Innovation: “Certain LELO products including the Tiani, Tiani 2 and Mahana are the subject of an investigation by the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) to determine whether the devices infringe more than 70 claims of Standard Innovation’s U.S. Patent No. 7,931,605. A trial at the ITC took place in Washington, DC, on August 21 to 24, 2012, attended by representatives of Standard Innovation and one of Lelo’s top executives. Standard Innovation was extremely pleased with strength of the evidence presented at trial supporting infringement and the validity of its patent and looks forward to a favourable determination by the ITC. An initial decision is due in January 2013.”

The company says that in addition to the ITC investigation, actions for patent infringement against LELO, and other parties that sell and distribute its products accused of infringement, remain ongoing in Canada, as well as in the U.S. District Court.

Standard Innovation said it will continue to vigorously pursue legal actions against those parties who attempt to market and sell products that are alleged to infringe its valuable intellectual property rights.
