pjur Group Sponsors Gay Games Cologne 2010

WASSERBILLIG, Luxembourg — Lube manufacturer pjur sponsored the eighth annual Gay Games in Cologne, the quadrennial sporting and cultural event organized by and for LGBT athletes that was held July 31 through Aug. 7.

pjur supplied 12,000 lanyards that athletes and volunteers received at registration, along with more than 20,000 product samples that were distributed to the local shops along with banners/posters plus pjur products.

Gay performer Alex Baresi from Titan Media teamed up with the pjur staff distributing pjur Original sachet cards and condoms as giveaways to passers-by in Cologne. Baresi also participated in the wrestling competition where he handed out prizes.

“pjur was delighted to contribute to experience of 10,000 participants from over 70 countries around the world,” pjur group COO David Newnham said. “We have a long history of supporting the gay community and are very proud to be a part of this great success.”’

According to the company, it decided to sign on as a sponsor in support of the gay and lesbian market, which represents a key group of customers for pjur’s core products.

pjur also has created products specifically targeting the gay market, such as those in the Man Series that include pjur Backdoor glide and spray plus pjur Power.

"We are very thankful for pjur’s support of the eighth Gay Games Cologne 2010,” said Ingo Toenges, marketing director of the Gay Games. “Without the commitment and support provided by companies like pjur, we wouldn’t have been able to finance the Gay Games in Cologne. We hope that pjur will continue to show its commitment to events in the gay-lesbian community in the future and thus serve as a positive role model for other companies."

With approximately 10,000 participants from more than 70 nations, the Gay Games’ motto “Be part of it” notes that everyone is eligible to participate regardless of religion, nationality, political convictions, athletic prowess, physical capabilities, age or health status.
