MADRID -- Nominees for the 15th annual Ninfa Awards have been announced. The gala awards ceremony will take place on June 25 at the Sala Florida Park in Madrid. The event will kick off the Barcelona Erotic International Film Festival (aka FICEB), which opens its doors on June 26 at the Sala Multiusos Fabrik in Madrid.

The Ninfa Awards are presented in two sections for international and Spanish nominees.

"It's almost overwhelming to see how crazy the European porn fans are for Nacho Vidal and Rocco Siffredi," Evil Angel's Karen Stagliano told XBIZ. "With John Leslie, John Stagliano and Harmony films also getting multiple nominations each, we're honored to be so well represented at this year's Ninfa awards."

FICEB will take place from June 26-28.

While attendance at the 2006 FICEB held in Barcelona was reportedly 50,000, show spokesperson Natalia Kim said that because of the new venue in Madrid it would be difficult to predict the turnout for this year. However, show organizers are anticipating more than 20,000 attendees.

Asked in the lowering U.S. dollar has had an effect on show attendance or the economics of the European adult industry, Kim told XBIZ, "Unfortunately, yes."

"But it's not only due to the economics," Kim added, "but also to the change of consumer habits that turn a lot to Internet and other new technologies. However, we don't really expect this to influence negatively in the number of people attending FICEB in Madrid."

Special exhibitions and events at FICEB this year included a tribute to performers Rocco Siffredi and Sylvia Saint, as well as a retrospective of Spanish adult films from the '80s. A collection of photographs from 15 years of previous FICEB shows will be displayed.

The FICEB show floor will be divided into three areas where consumers can experience live sex shows, a working production set, music acts, film screenings, vendor booths, adult performer casting calls and opportunities to meet adult stars, as well as various special events.

Two new performers also will be chosen to be the King and Queen of FICEB 2008. The winners will have the opportunity to star in an adult film, as well as be featured in FICEB advertising and a promotional tour throughout 2008.
