RayVeness Petitions Congressman

RESEDA, Calif. – Veteran adult actress RayVeness made a formal petition to Congressman Brad Sherman of the 27th District to talk to her and other concerned citizens about issues facing the adult entertainment industry, in particular raising the age requirement for adult performers from the age of 18 to 21.

In response to RayVeness' request, the congressman met with an audience at the San Fernando Valley High School in what is being referred to as a two-hour "town hall meeting," in which Sherman fielded questions over concerns and possible solutions for tightening regulations within the industry.

RayVeness had originally asked the congressman to consider increasing the age requirement for talent by three years, and for adult companies to be required to request working visas from adult performers from other countries. According to RayVeness, the porn industry is the only industry that does not require proper work documentation from talent.

"The law requires everyone else to show a work visa to work but it is not enforced by the adult industry or policed by the government and there is proof of this," she told Adult Industry News.

RayVeness, who has worked as an adult performer in numerous capacities, is a firm believer that the choice to become a porn star is a critical one that should not be left in the hands of teenagers. The star of more than 300 adult films, RayVeness makes the point that once you enter the industry there is no turning back, and that changing careers after porn is a nearly impossible choice.

"Instead of ruining your whole life, try everything in life that interests you first, and if you are not happy, then decide you would like to do porn," stated RayVeness. "People right out of high school in this country don't seem to have the foresight to make such life-altering decisions.

RayVeness and others have reportedly filed a petition that the congressman intends to review at a future date.
