CineKink to Honor 'The Opening of Misty Beethoven'

NEW YORK CineKink has announced that the closing night tribute film of its 10th anniversary festival will be a restored version of Radley Metzger's "The Opening of Misty Beethoven."

The screening is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 at 9:30 p.m. at the Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Ave., NYC), with the director expected to be in attendance.

In this retelling of George Bernard Shaw's classic play "Pygmalion," the action is transplanted to 1970s New York, Rome and Paris following noted sexologist Dr. Seymour Love (Jamie Gillis) as he sets himself the challenge of transforming a lowly streetwalker, Misty Beethoven (Constance Money), into the world's greatest lover.

"The Opening of Misty Beethoven" was originally credited to Henry Paris, a pseudonym for Metzger, whose works include such adult cinema classics as "Score," "Barbara Broadcast" and "The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann." The festival screening at CineKink NYC is made possible by DistribPix, who supervised the restoration of the movie.

"I'm thrilled to share 'The Opening of Misty Beethoven' with our audience," said Lisa Vandever, co-founder and director of CineKink. "Whenever anyone asks me to define quality erotic cinema, Radley Metzger is alway my first reference. The way his films combine explicit sexuality with an entertaining story, engaging performances and beautiful photography is nothing short of astonishing."

CineKink NYC runs Feb. 26 until March 3.
