Director Taormino's 'Chemistry' Makes N.Y., Slovenia Film Fests

LOS ANGELES — Sex educator and adult video director Tristan Taormino will be represented in two prestigious erotic film festivals in the next couple of weeks. An excerpt from Taormino's "Chemistry, Vol. 3" has been selected to screen at the 2009 CineKink Film Festival in New York City. CineKink was founded in 2003 as "the really alternative film festival" to recognize and encourage positive depictions of sexuality in film and television. The screening is part of a special event titled "Bring It!" which features "a dazzling array of talent from today's adult cinema, working in a wide range of genres and visual styles, step up with a hot sampling of their recent creative endeavors," according to the program.

"I'm a big fan of CineKink and think it's an amazing festival," Taormino said. "I'm thrilled that 'Chemistry 3' has been selected to be part of this year's line up. The organizers selected one of Roxy DeVille's scenes in the film which is among my favorites — because it's real, raw, and smokin' hot."

The first volume of "Chemistry" will be shown as part of 10th Annual Red Dawns Feminist and Queer Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia, scheduled for March 5-8. The Red Dawns Festival features exhibitions, performance art, film screenings, workshops, and concerts. "Chemistry" was one of three productions chosen by festival organizers to be screened, and a discussion of feminist, alternative, and queer porn will follow the films. "When the festival's producers contacted me, I was overjoyed," Taormino said. "It's incredibly groundbreaking for such a festival to exist in Slovenia, and I am so honored to have my movie be a part of it."
