Kerekes Said Corrigan’s Sunglasses Hid Bug

WILKES-BARRE, Penn. — Jailed murder suspect Joseph Kerekes said he believes that potentially damaging conversation may have been recorded through an electronic bug planted in sunglasses worn by adult performer Brent Corrigan while he, adult perfomer/producer Harlow Cuadra and Corrigan romped on a nude beach in San Diego, Calif., on April 28.

Both Kerekes and Cuadra were charged on Wednesday with the January slaying of Cobra Video owner Bryan Kocis. The murder is the alleged result of a scheme to stop Kocis in preventing Corrigan from working with Kerekes and Cuadra.

“I’m not afraid of what they heard,” Kerekes said in a jailhouse interview from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on Wednesday.

“The speaker was in sunglasses Brent wore at the beach. It was cloudy out and he never took those glasses off,” Kerekes said.

At one point during their conversation on the beach, Cuadra apparently told Corrigan, “Actually seeing that fucker going down, it’s actually sick, but it made me feel better inside,” Cuadra said, according to the documents. “It almost felt like I got revenge and I know that sounds fucked up.”

Kerekes, Corrigan and Cuadra had originally discussed plans to work together on a film project in the early part of January when all three met at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.

Corrigan, also known as Sean Lockhart, was a Cobra exclusive model. Kerekes and Cuadra feared that Kocis would not allow him out of his contract to perform in another studio’s production.

After the discussion in Las Vegas, Kerekes said that Cuadra set up a meeting with Kocis using a fake name in the hopes of persuading him to go along with their business plans.

Kerekes explained that Cuadra used a fake name because he was afraid Kocis would turn down the meeting because both he and Kerekes were known male escorts and Cuadra was older than the 18 to 22-year old models Kocis preferred to use in his productions.

Admitting that he and Cuadra were in a motel near Kocis’ home the night of the murder, Kerekes said that Cuadra went there to meet with Kocis. Shortly after arriving at the home, Cuadra called Kerekes to tell him “something was wrong.”

Cuadra returned to the motel quickly and the pair checked out. After leaving the motel, Cuadra explained that when he had arrived at Kocis house, the front door was open, so he looked inside and saw overturned furniture and smelled smoke.

The pair was finally arrested on May 15, by authorities in Virginia Beach, Va., approximately three weeks investigators apparently taped the beach conversation in San Diego.

Kerekes and Cuadra were jailed in Virginia Beach, Va., until their recent extradition to Pennsylvania to face murder charges.

Kerekes says the Luzerne County Correctional Facility is more accommodating than the Virginia Beach jail where he was confined to a solitary cell and shackled during transport.

“At least here I’m in the general inmate population,” he said.

Cuadra is being held at the Lackawanna County Jail, and both he and Kerekes are being held without bail.
