Massive Raid For Child Porn

UNITED KINGDOM – Over the weekend international child porn task force Operation Ore conducted another massive raid on people who have allegedly been accessing child porn over the Internet.

Using the manpower of 180 officers, the Surrey Police cracked down on 27 homes and confiscated 86 computer hard drives and more than 3,000 computer-related items.

"The weekend has been very successful," said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Russell. "We will continue to investigate all the intelligence we receive about online pedophiles vigorously, using all of the means available to us."

The goal of the raid was to locate 219 persons allegedly involved in the purchase of online child pornography. The names of those persons under investigation were brought to the attention of Operation Ore for using their credit cards to purchase child porn online.

The sting was part of a larger investigation into an estimated 6,000 suspects still at large.

So far there have been no arrests, say authorities, while police review each of the suspects' hard drives.

This weekend's raid comes on the heels of dozens of similar search and seizures of alleged child pornographers. Operation Ore had so far succeeded in making 47 child porn-related arrests, although only 11 convictions have resulted.
