Pipedream Blasts Kim Kardashian's Cease, Desist Letter

LOS ANGELES — Kim Kardashian's attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter to Pipedream Products, demanding the company stop using her likeness on all products and advertisements.

The letter refers to the Kinky Kim blow-up doll, which features a dark-haired model dressed in lingerie eating a hamburger on the product box-cover.

“You are using Ms. Kardashian’s likeness for your own commercial gain,” the letter said. “Moreover, Ms. Kardashian has not authorized you to use her image in such a manner. Your unauthorized use of Ms. Kardashian’s likeness on this doll constitutes a violation of her right of publicity.”

Pipedream CEO Nick Orlandino, who wasn’t concerned, told XBIZ that this happens all the time and his attorney will be contacting Kardashian’s attorneys.

“This is ridiculous,” he said. “We didn’t do anything wrong.”

Orlandino reiterated that the doll may bare a slight resemblance to Kardashian but has nothing to do with the celebrity.

“There’s no way they can tie this to copyright infringement because there is no copyright that has been infringed upon,” Orlandino said.

“I have a model-signed release [the model on the box-cover], and I’ve complied with all the laws.”
