GayStation Portable Launches

ORLANDO, Fla. — GayStationPortable, a division of gay content provider BadBears.com, launched this weekend with five videos available as PlayStation Portable (PSP) or Windows Media downloads.

The company also is planning to code similar downloads for personal digital assistants, tablet PCs and cellular phones.

“GayStationPortable will feature never before seen exclusive gay content ranging from young, smooth twinks to big hairy bears and a lot of fetish content,” BadBears.com President David Watson said.

The gay market has traditionally been an early adopter of new technology, but GSP is one of the first gay programs available for the PSP, which was released earlier this year and immediately became the object of straight porn developers’ attention.

However, the idea of gay porn on a small screen might not appeal to the broader audience of gay adult consumers, said Jason Sechrest, owner and webmaster of JasonCurious.com.

“When new technology heads approach us and tell us they've got ‘the next big thing,’ it's sort of like, ‘Sure you do, we've all heard that one before,’” Sechrest told XBiz. “Why would I want to learn [a new technology] when I can get my porn just as easily on bigger screens?”

But GayStationPortable is hedging its bets and continuing to offer other incentives, including allowing members access to BadBears.com and BadBears.tv, two sites featuring older men.

In addition, offering PSP-compatible content only requires exporting video through another filter, or codec, so it is conceivable that many sites will offer adult PSP material as a standard choice in addition to Windows Media, RealAudio or QuickTime files.
