Banks entered the adult industry in 1999 and this year marks her 10th anniversary in the business. A Penthouse Pet in 2001, Banks signed an exclusive contract with Vivid Entertainment that same year. She went on to become one of the most popular Vivid Girls in the company’s history who was particularly known for her hardcore sex scenes.

“I knew for my tenth year in this business I had to do something big. It was always a dream of mine [to own my own company],” Banks today told XBIZ from the floor of the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. “I’m such a perverted girl and I want to share my fantasies, my vision, with everyone – especially my fans who have been with me through thick and thin.”

Banks said she plans to be very hands-on with her new company “from the lighting, to the set, to the actual location, to planning the movie, casting, art direction, scene pairings – I want to do it all.”

According to Banks, she spent the past year studying changes in the business, not only in content production trends, but in distribution, too. As a Vivid Girl, she explained, she was exposed to the ins and outs of the business through meeting with distributors and retailers.

“Owning a company has been a dream of mine since I started,” she said. “I have a good head on my shoulders and I’m learning fast the skills it takes to be a boss. This is a challenging time for the industry, but I think there is plenty of room for my company’s movies.”

Banks’ as-yet-untitled first release is scheduled to ship in mid-February from Antigua Pictures, the multi-platform distribution company that inked Banks to an exclusive domestic and foreign distribution deal that encompasses DVD, video-on-demand, broadcast and licensing rights.

In a way, Banks’ career has come full circle – she shot two movies for Antigua when she first started performing, before her deal with Vivid.

“I guess I always was known as being one of the ‘nastier’ Vivid Girls,” Banks said. “I want my movies to be elegant and to have a sense of style, but I promise, the sex will be as hard as ever. This is gonna be the hard, old-school Briana.”

In addition to her new studio, Banks is planning a full relaunch of her official site, BrianaBanksReloaded.com. The site will feature new content, video clips, webcam shows and a blog.
