Manhunt Adds ManCam Feature to Website

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Popular gay networking website Manhunt.net has unveiled a new power tool in its arsenal: the ManCam, a video chat feature that facilitates online face-to-face meetings between Manhunt members.

Ken Herron, chief marketing officer for Manhunt parent company Online Buddies, said this is the next logical step in the site’s evolution. Manhunt kicked off in Boston in 2001 with a telephone dating service and later moved to “fixed and mobile web with text and photos and now fun, fast and easy video chat.”

“Manhunt is committed to finding new and innovative ways to leverage technology to enable our members around the world to connect,” Herron said. “ManCam is faster and more reliable than traditional webcam hosting sites.”

Manhunt Labs developed the new technology in partnership with a leading video chat service provider, Herron said.

ManCam will be available on a 30-day trial to both limited- and full-access members, after which only full-access site members will be able to send instant-message chat invites through Manhunt profiles and mail messages. However, limited-access members will still be able to receive invitations.

If they desire, site users can maintain multiple open windows and conduct a number of ongoing chat sessions.

A webcam and current Adobe Flash are the only tech requirements to utilize ManCam. Multilingual support staff is available 24/7.
