Private.mobi Rolls Out in Europe, South Africa

BARCELONA — Continuing an aggressive campaign to expand into new media platforms, Private Media Group announced today that is has launched Private.mobi, in partnership with global music and media provider Mobile Streams.

The deal will bring off-portal mobile services to more than 200,000 million handsets in Germany and Spain alone, according to a Private representative.

“As part of our commitment to increase proliferation of Private’s content across all digital platforms, we are continuing the off-portal mobile rollout,” Private Vice President of Sales Tim Clausen said.

“Today we are the most distributed adult brand on-portal with over 85 operators worldwide. Our target is to also be dominant in the off-portal global domain where expectations for growth and expansion are huge,” Clausen added. “We have generated excellent traffic in the U.K. and through aggressive marketing and promotion, I am sure that we will mirror that success in Spain, Germany and South Africa.”

Private cited research from marketing research firm Informa Telecoms & Media, which indicates that within the next five years, 70 percent of mobile revenue will be pulled from off-portal platforms, and that use of off-portal services is increasing, especially for the adult content sector.

Private launched its first off-portal service in the U.K. in 2007, and said that the current expansion into other European territories coincides with a 66 percent increase in mobile content downloads within the last 12 months. Advancements in cellphone technology and developments like the recent launch of the 3G iPhone indicate that the demand for access to mobile content will continue to increase.

Mobile Streams uses its Vuesia mobile management system to deliver mobile content to media groups and mobile phone networks including Vodafone, and three in the U.K., America Movil, Movistar & TIM in Latin America, Fido & Rogers in Canada, and Dobson in the U.S.

The mobile distribution deal follows on the heels of Private’s recent offer to consumers of free content downloads to their iPhones, which can be accessed by visiting the Private website.
