Torrance Spearmint Rhino Sets Charity Car Wash

NORCO, Calif. — The Torrance Spearmint Rhino clubs will be hosting its 2nd annual charity car wash on Friday as part of the "Ditch Work Friday" promotion with radio station KLSX 97.1 FM.

The car wash will run from 3-6 p.m. and all proceeds will go to Savannah's Organic Ranch, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the fight against childhood cancer.

"We are so grateful that we have this event to help fight pediatric cancer," says Joe Sachen III, co-chair of Savannah's Organic Ranch. "Last year, we raised a lot of money and it looks like this year will be even better."

Savannah's Organic Ranch is dedicated to the legacy of Savannah, who suffered from a very rare form of cancer of the heart. During her first bout with cancer, Savannah took an interest in organic food and when the cancer returned, she agreed to undertake chemotherapy for a second time if her parents promised they would help her start an organic farm. Savannah lost her fight with cancer May 18, 2007, at age eight, but determined to keep their promise, Savannah's parents started Savannah's Organic Ranch, which continues Savannah's love for people, animals and nature and hopes to educate and raise awareness about the benefits of organic farming. All profits from Savannah's Organic Ranch will be donated to the fight against childhood cancer.

The car wash will feature dancers from Spearmint Rhino clubs in Torrance, Industry and Van Nuys.

The club will be open during the car wash where guests can enjoy entertainment from the house dancers and a full bar with drink specials.

Last year's car wash raised more than $2,000 for Savannah's Organic Ranch.

The Spearmint Rhino is located at 19900 Normandie Avenue in Torrance.
