Seneca Virtualizes Hosting With LeaseWeb
AMSTERDAM — Dutch web developer Seneca is virtualizing its hosting environment with provider LeaseWeb. The company plans to complete the full hosting migration of all its customers within a year.
“LeaseWeb has offered us the opportunity to set up a VMware-based virtualization platform at Dutch data center EvoSwitch,” Seneca’s Jeroen Bezemer said.
“LeaseWeb has supplied the facilities at the data center and helped us conceive and build the hosting solution. This collaboration resulted in a virtualized hosting environment based on VMware’s ESX platform. Once all of our customers have been transferred, we will need a maximum of 10 physical dedicated servers, whereas in the past, we needed 50.”
Seneca supplies Smartsite, a content management system that the company developed in-house.
LeaseWeb is an international provider of hosting solutions. The company offers services that include domain name registration, web hosting, dedicated servers, co-location, server virtualization and streaming.
Founded in 1997, LeaseWeb manages nearly 11,000 servers. Its client base includes Starbucks, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Direct Wonen.
