CalExotics Releases 2 New Dr. Laura Berman Products

CHINO, Calif. — Adult novelty manufacturer California Exotic Novelties introduced two items this week from the Dr. Laura Berman Intimate Basics Line.

The Phoebe is a rechargeable, oscillating vibrating massager with four interchangeable silicone heads. Also featured is the Eden — a tight, stretchy, clear TPR masturbator with ribbed inner chamber and a convenient handle for easy up-and-down movement and dexterity.

The company currently has two sets of doctor-branded lines. Included are products from Dr. Berman and sex therapist Dr. Joel Kaplan.

CalExotics founder and president Susan Colvin approached Dr. Berman with director of marketing for the company Al Bloom to help create and manufacture Berman’s line.

“[Dr. Berman’s] books have been on the New York Times best-sellers list, and she is known around the world as not only a celebrity, but as a sex researcher and relationship guru,” Bloom told XBIZ. “When we approached her, she was very warm and excited to collaborate with us.”

Bloom said this type of doctor-branding brings a whole new perspective to the company’s products and the way they are sold and displayed.

“In particular, the Dr. Laura Berman Intimate Basics are handled by not just the traditional distributors of adult novelties, but are also available through mainstream distributors as well. This type of branding has blazed new distribution opportunities for us.”

This week, the company also released the Passion Bee, a bendable waterproof stimulator available in pink or purple and three new Super-Soft Plusheez, a soft, multi-use vibrator that comes in the shape of a dolphin, tongue or hummer.
