Topco Merges With China’s High Tech Novelties (HTN)

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Topco Sales has announced a complete acquisition with the High Tech Novelties (HTN) facility in China. Topco’s founder Martin Tucker formed HTN in 2003 to serve as an overseas counterpart to the company’s U.S. operations.

The acquisition makes Topco a global operation with HTN officially changing its name to Topco Sales China, with Tucker remaining active as a consultant.

Vanessa Pellegrini, Topco Sales' international sales director, said "The new location gives us the resources to handle our growing international clientele in the area of private label manufacturing. It is no surprise that buying direct is cost effective. We offer the best prices, unique products, and packaging that reflects our customers' brands."

Topco Sales China is located in Shenzhen, minutes from the Chinese-Hong Kong border. The city’s been designated a special economic zone and one of the largest manufacturing bases in the world.

The Chinese facility is 4,500 square feet of office space along with a product showroom staffed by full-time employees.

Topco Sales China’s location enables it to have direct access to numerous Chinese vendors for a more streamlined, efficient and cost effective manufacturing process. All Chinese vendors are registered with the FDA to ensure standard.

Topco Sales China is also poised to expand the companies' private label capabilities, a sector which the company has targeted for rapid growth.

"Private labeling gives companies the flexibility to design packaging and create products that reflect their brand and caters to their customers,” Topco’s Scott Tucker explained.

“We give our private label clients the ability to carry products that no one else does. They also have the flexibility to decide how their money will be spent. For example, an Internet-based private label client may chose to spend less on the packaging and more on the product, whereas a brick and mortar retail private label client might want to concentrate more on the packaging. We offer customized services to all our private label clients so they can chose what is best for their business."

The announcement of the merger comes at an especially poignant moment for Topco — its 35th anniversary.

"All of these changes mean Topco Sales will offer our customers better service, better products, better materials, better pricing than ever before,” said Desiree Duffie, Topco director of marketing and public relations. “This has been an exciting year for Topco Sales; with our Commitment to Green, our streamlining of business operations and our brand new facility in the orient: Topco Sales China, it all equals a brighter future for us, our customers, and the consumers."
