Those in attendance received a casino chip worth $5 off any purchase made from show exhibitors and fans appeared in a buying mood across the board.
And though there was a DJ spinning near the food court, there was a noticeable lack of blaring music, typical of other fan shows. The subdued sound level made it easier for fans and stars to communicate without having to yell above the techno track.
Near the show entrance, Drew Fin-Kelson, owner of I Love Vagina, was selling an assortment of T-shirts, booty shorts, belt buckles and other accessories from the familiar clothing line.
“Adultcon’s been great. I think having the casino chip helps [the crowd] mentally prepare to buy something,” Kelson told XBIZ. “It doesn’t matter so much if they spend it at my booth as long as they’re spending money on the floor — then it’s good for the floor, and that’s all that matters because eventually they’ll find something they like and they’re going to purchase it. So, I do like that a lot about this show.
“It is a recession, so thank God I’ve got my credit card machine – that does help,” Kelson added, emphasizing the current economic climate. “My expectations are a little bit lower this year. Like anybody that does a lot of these shows — because I do all the adult shows — even AVN is down and even the big production companies don’t spend the money. All of us are trying to be a little bit frugal and get the most out of it. But it is good to see that people are here. People want us here, you know.
“Just no more shows need to be added to the [yearly] schedule,” Kelson advised.
One of the hottest attractions on the floor was Adam & Eve’s newest contract star Kayden Kross, making her first appearance at the fan-centric show.
“You know what?” Kross told XBIZ, “I was unsure because a couple of people said, ‘Don’t do it,’ and a couple of people said, ‘Do it.’ And I’m so glad I did it. I have people coming to see me.”
Though not yet a household name, the sexy blonde starlet drew a consistent crowd on Saturday, posing with fans and signing posters. With starring roles in two big Adam & Eve titles scheduled to release later this year, it seems likely Kross will become a fan favorite.
For Adam & Eve’s roller-derby themed blockbuster “Rollerdollz,” that will release in September, Kross said, “It was great. I learned to roller skate all over again, I didn’t fall once, except for one scene — I went skidding across the floor. I hope they cut it out in editing.”
Right after “Rollerdollz” wrapped, Kross immediately started filming on another big budget release, “The Surrender of O,” directed by Ernest Greene, starring label-mate Bree Olson and featuring Mrs. Greene, otherwise known as Nina Hartley.
“I was in love with that movie when I read the book. Of course, Ira and Nina know everything about it,” Kross said. “I adore Bree — I’ve been in more girl/girl scenes with her than anyone. We do great scenes together.”
One of the most well-known performers on the floor was super stud Evan Stone, who split a big booth with the lovely and exotic performer Syren.
Always a comedian, Stone brought his own pulpit and did an hourly sermon for the crowd, urging them to do their duty as Americans and perhaps even avoid the burning flames of Hell, simply by joining his website.
“I’m having a good time,” Stone said. “I get to meet the fans. It’s a lot of fun. We’re charging $5 a piece for pictures and sometimes the fans get a little annoyed when I’m groping their wives, but I don’t know what the problem is. I guess you can’t bang someone else’s wife. What’s the world coming to?”
Performer Nautica Thorn was also in a silly mood. When asked what she liked about AdultCon, Thorn took the conversation to another level.
“I like cock. I like pussy. I like boobs. I like a light chest hair; not a whole lot like a wooly mammoth. I don’t mind a little stubble on the ass, but I don’t want a full-grown bush going on. And I sometimes like come in the ear,” Thorn said, to the delight of fans close enough to hear.
“Have you ever tried it? Have you ever tried swirling the head of a cock in your ear? It feels really good because it’s really soft on the head. Imagine if there was pre-come, all swirling in your ear,” Thorn laughed. “I’m doing that in my next movie. I think that’s hot.”
In the middle of the show floor, Adultcon veteran Cleopatra hosted a four-booth space and was excited about the fan response.
“I’m signing for sometimes, three people at the same time,” Cleopatra said. “I’ve had more business than I can handle, and it’s the greatest Adultcon that I’ve done so far and I’m looking forward to the show in December and the Adultcon Awards, actually, which is in July.”
Wicked Pictures contract performer Kaylani Lei and guy-pal Barrett Blade were at the DoLips.com booth, getting ready to tag-team Lexi Tyler with a programmable, USB-compatible cyber dildo, as part of a live demonstration. The device can be used by web-chatting partners to enhance their online encounters with remote control sex.
“People are on the chats anyway, so this kicks it up a notch,” Blade said.
At the Erotique Entertainment booth, there were lots of starlets to choose from including Angie Savage, Mia Presley and Lux Kassidy.
Former Penthouse Pet Kassidy said she is currently in negotiations for a girl/girl contract with ClubJenna and that she was selling a lot of magazines that day. Presley took the opportunity to promote her own animal charity organization, Pornstars4Pups.org.
At one point, starlet Brooke Belle stopped by the booth to make out with Savage and the two blondes instantly sent camera flashes popping.
Performer Jack Lawrence was doing a brisk business selling his debut title as a producer/director, instructional video “Breaking Into Porn.” A lot of male fans at the show were interested in finding out how to become performers themselves, while a lot of female fans seemed more interested in Lawrence’s big banner, featuring photos of the star’s physical attributes.
Next door, James Bartholet’s Galaxy Publicity Agency booth was the subject of a TV camera crew. Bartholet explained that Galaxy client Veronica Rayne was being followed for a Fox TV reality show, but details were being kept under wraps.
“I can say I’m on a reality show,” Rayne said. “There are three lovely ladies I’m living with. The show is going to air in November, and it’s actually a very good light that they’re showing adult actresses in.”
Performer Brooke Haven was also being tailed by the same camera crew and let the cat a little more out of the bag.
“I’m filming for Fox Reality, for ‘My Bare Lady 2,’” Haven said. “It’s lots of fun. I get to take them to the potty with me, and the shower — oh, wait, not quite — but that would make it more interesting. I get to live in a house with three other sexy ladies. It’s only week one, so we haven’t had any fights yet.”
Nearby, SexZ Picture’s “Upload” star Eva Angelina drew long lines. She had recently returned from a media trade show in held in Cannes and said she enjoyed the trip to France with SexZ Pictures’ owner Bo Kenney and crew.
“It was raining the whole time, but it was beautiful,” Angelina described. “But the main thing was the partying; there’s like music in the streets at like 4 o’clock in the morning. Hillary [Scott] and I were there together. She’s just a great person, really fun to hang out with, so we had a blast and we got to share our jet lag experiences.”
Adultcon also featured several newbie performers, like Alyssa Reece, who was a big hit with the crowd. The auburn-haired Vancouver transplant has been making the rounds and picking up some good gigs.
“I shot with Bree Olsen for her site,” Reece said. “She was good, really fun. She’s awesome. I’ve shot for Silver Sinema and I also shot for Cyber Age. I did an interview with Playboy TV.
“And I’ve shot for Holly Randall. She is one of my favorite, favorite photographers in the whole world,” the starlet gushed. “It was amazing to work with them; I’ve loved them for so long. It’s surreal. I would come here just to shoot with them.”
While Reece had already lived out a few fantasies, she admitted she would like to have a shot at a contract with Vivid since she likes the look of their movies and their contract stars.
In the meantime, the starlet enjoyed her first fan show and being a fan herself.
“It’s so much fun,” Reece said. “I just met another one of my favorite girls that I love so much — Eva Angelina. I met her and that’s awesome.
Other exhibitors at Adultcon included performers Tory Lane, Olivia O’Lovely, Luscious Lopez, August, Kat, Savannah Stern, Jenaveve Joli, Heather Gates and Exotica, among others.
Agencies and vendors included L.A. Direct models, 20_20 Entertainment, Fukmor clothing, New Line Talent Agency, Scores Las Vegas and Extenze/BeAMonstar enhancement products, among others.
