"I have some friends in the mainstream entertainment industry, press representatives and party planners, so we had several different connections," Topco Director of Marketing and Public Relations Desiree Duffie told XBIZ. "Matching up the products with the occasion is the fun part. When you're trying to market to the mainstream world, you can't start out by giving them a 14-inch double-headed dildo, but if you give them a couple of little flavored lubricant packs, that's fun, and relatively tame."
At the Sundance Film Festival, held in Park City, Utah, in January, Topco provided grrl toyz products and promo items at a party thrown by socialite Paris Hilton. Rascal Toys were given out as gifts during the Queer Lounge Party at Sundance, and MySpace VIP gift baskets included grrl toyz and lube samplers from the Sex Tarts and Fizz lines.
During AFI Dallas, which took place March 27- April 6, Topco Sales donated grrl toyz and Sex Tarts for the filmmakers’ special department gift bags. To help promote "Filthy Food," a six-minute short showing foods being seductively fondled and consumed, Topco Sales provided its TLC Vibrating Cucumber and Vibrating Sausage as giveaways to screening attendees. Topco Sales also is a sponsor for production company Dirty Little Shorts, which produced "Filthy Food."
