Lindsay Lohan Photo Shoot Draws 'Porn' Complaints

NEW YORK – Actress Lindsay Lohan is the center of a controversy over her recent "Marilyn Monroe" photo shoot for New York Magazine which some critics are calling "porn."

Six weeks before her death in 1962 from an apparent overdose of barbiturates, pop icon Marilyn Monroe posed for photographer Bert Stern, producing what has since become known as "The Last Sitting."

According to New York Magazine, "Taken during several boozy sessions at the Hotel Bel-Air, the photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America's most famous actress: Monroe, sleepy-eyed and naked, sips from a Champagne glass, enacts a fan dance of sorts with various diaphanous scarves, romps with erotic playfulness on a bed of white linens."

Stern recreated the legendary shoot using actress Lindsay Lohan, herself a fan of Monroe and collector of her memorabilia.

"I didn't have to put much thought into it," Lohan said. "I mean, Bert Stern? Doing a Marilyn shoot? When is that ever going to come up? It's really an honor."

"An honor" isn't the way that Morality in Media president Robert Peters, would describe it, however.

"I describe the New York nude photo shoot as 'soft-core porn,' for the same reason that people describe Playboy magazine's nude photo shoots as 'soft-core porn'," Peters said. "Men who subscribe to Playboy for the purpose of viewing naked women don't do so because of their appreciation for great art; so men who buy New York to see a naked Lindsay Lohan won't be doing so because of their appreciation for great art."

The New York shoot wasn't the first time Peters has examined nude photos of Lohan.

"A quick comparison between her partial nudity photo shoot in the February 2006 Vanity Fair, when she was still a teenager, and the nude photo shoot in the February 2008 New York, will show that her breast size has increased astonishingly," Peters said. "Too bad we can't say the same for her good sense."
