OhMiBod Receives Mainstream Media Accolades

NORTH HAMPTON, N.H. — Music-inspired vibrator designer OhMiBod has received several nods of support by mainstream publications and was named Best for Phone Sex by Women's Health's Second Annual Sex Awards.

OhMiBod founder Suki told XBIZ that though the company is still in its infancy — she just celebrated its second Valentine's Day — people are just now catching on to her BodiTalk line of cellphone-activated vibes, which caught the eye of Women's Health.

"I think that the mainstream press is finally starting to understand what we believe in," Suki said. "Sex is good and healthy — there isn't anything dirty about it. It can be written and talked about in many circles without offending anyone."

The BodiTalk Escort also was noticed by Maxim Magazine, which names this year's Sexiest Everything list, naming the vibe the Sexiest Phone Accessory.

"Behind the invention of every new technology is some smarty-pants with either a hard-on or an evil plan to rule the world. Or both." Maxim noted.

Suki said that she attributes much of her mainstream press to offering focused pitches and not focusing solely on the adult industry.

"We are able to get press in a lot of mainstream publications just by the mere fact that our [original] product hooks up to the iconic iPod, but I would also say that the way we have chosen to market and package our product have also played a role in the coverage we have received so far," Suki said. "Our goal is to bring all of our products mainstream, so we have always operated with this as a focus."

Suki also believes that consumers are partly responsible for the amount of adult products being featured in mainstream press. They feel more confident and comfortable with sex than ever before — especially when it comes to sex toys — and they expect to see their favorite publications cover what's new.
