Bob Mizer's XXX Fascination Exposed, Again

SAN FRANCISCO — Athletic Model Guild has announced the release of their latest classic hardcore title, “Hardcore Film Classics: Cowboy Virgin.” Cowboy Virgin is only the second release of hardcore material shot in the 20th Century to officially come out of the Athletic Model Guild since its inception in the 1940s. The company’s founder, Bob Mizer claimed, to have never produced hardcore material, however, as the archives reveal, he wasn’t being completely honest.

Current AMG President Dennis Bell said he was surprised to find any hardcore material, but was surprised to find a second batch after the release of 2006’s Hardcore Film Classics: Vito and the Love Bandit.

“When we produced Vito and the Love Bandit, I was pretty sure that their wouldn’t be another Hardcore Film Classics Release,” Bell said. “But, Bob always had something up his sleeve, or in this case, in his film canisters.”

Earlier this year Bell and Promotions Manager Christopher Trout made a ritual trip to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to scour the private AMG film archives for new DVD material. Amongst hundreds of posing films, short scripted nudies, and at least one full-length feature (2008’s Theatre Film Classics: Billy Boy) were a few film canisters marked ‘hardcore.’

“You’d swear he’d struck gold,” Trout said of Bell’s reaction.

“It’s a really big deal,” Bell insists. “The entire time Bob Mizer was in business he didn’t release anything containing penetration. In fact, he publicly opposed hardcore pornography. To find enough XXX footage in the archives for two DVDs, is like uncovering a mystery. Needless to say, no one’s seen this stuff since it was shot.”

Cowboy Virgin is 140 minutes in length and boasts five films, including a black and white film titled The Robbery, which seems to have been shot in a time before male nudity was in itself a crime. DVD extras include unreleased blowjob footage, hardcore slideshows and a trailer for Buckskin Bo Sun.

“It’s hard to tell why Bob was so opposed to hardcore pornography publicly,” Bell said. “Maybe he wanted to stay out of trouble with the authorities, which he was no stranger to, so he left the explicit stuff to the new guys. Maybe he thought hardcore was too much for the general public. Who knows? And really, who cares? We’re just lucky that he wasn’t personally opposed to the good stuff.”
