Margold Names Legends of Erotica for 2008

LOS ANGELES — Adult industry historian Bill Margold has named the recipients of his Legends of Erotica honors, all of whom will put their hands and feet in cement at Showgirl Video in Las Vegas Jan. 11. The honorees are Ron Jeremy, celebrating his 30th anniversary in the adult business, Brittany Andrews, Debi Diamond, Midori, Mimi Miyagi and Kitten Natividad.

The Legends of Erotica started in 1994, and the first honorees included Sharon Mitchell and Hyapatia Lee. Other past honorees include Seka, Georgina Spelvin, Juliet Anderson, Annette Haven, Vanessa Del Rio, Candida Royalle, Annie Sprinkle, John C. Holmes, Herschel Savage and Sean Michaels.

"[Arrow Productions and Showgirl Video owner Raymond] Pistol and I conceived the concept of Legends of Erotica to honor the people who had come before," Margold told XBIZ. "He came up with the concept of blocks of cement, which are all over the walls and floors of the store."

The ceremony is sentimental and often has surprises.

"What makes it special is that you're inducted by the person who means the most to you in your career. Lynn LeMay was inducted by her daughter, which brought tears from both sides of the stage," Margold said. "Gloria Leonard asked that Jamie Gillis come and induct her — Jamie would not have come for any other reason — and I inducted him. I've pulled that off a couple of times. When Jim Holliday was lured in to induct Selena Steele, I inducted Holliday.

"Cara Lott just sat down in the cement. Ginger Lynn put a high heel and a boot in, Kelly Nichols figured out a way of putting her face in the cement. It's pieces of anatomy going in cement — and having a lot of fun."

Margold is still trying to find other veteran performers, including Lesllie Bovee, Barbara Dare and Constance Money "if they want to be honored. I don't want to bring anybody out of anonymous retirement if they don't want to be brought out," he said.

Tickets for the ceremony are $20 and can be purchased at Showgirl Video and at the Arrow/P.A.W. booth at Adult Entertainment Expo. Proceeds go to Protecting Adult Welfare, Margold's help group for adult performers.

Showgirl Video is located at 631 Las Vegas Blvd. S. in Las Vegas. The ceremony starts at 8 p.m., but Margold promises no inductions until all honorees arrive.
