'Debbie Does Dallas' Gets Comic Re-imagining

LONG BEACH, N.Y. — Arrow Productions' 1978 adult classic “Debbie Does Dallas” is getting re-imagined as a comic book by Terminal Press. The limited edition comic, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the film's release, will debut at Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas in January.

“The creative team was given the opportunity to actually get creative with this title, which isn’t the norm when you’re working on a license,” Terminal Press founder Brian Ferrara, who wrote the comic, said. “They just let us go crazy and I think that paid off. It’s not what people are going to be expecting.”

The original film involved would-be football cheerleaders trying to make money to get to a cheerleader tryout. In the comic, "Debbie finds herself stranded and under the threat of nuclear decimation in the days leading up to the apocalypse. As one of very few survivors left, she will battle her way through hordes of the living dead, aided only by an abandoned military exoskeleton and the will to make it out of Dallas, Texas, alive."

“When I started talking to Terminal Press about licensing our Icons for comic books we agreed to do something completely different and insane," Arrow Marketing Director Robert Interlandi said. "After reading the script and seeing the artwork this book is totally amazing. The only hang-up is if we were to ever shoot this project we are looking at over a $100 million budget. However, the coolest thing about comic books is that you can draw anything you could ever imagine."

Future comic titles will feature reinterpretations of Arrow classic films including “Deep Throat,” “Candy Stripers" and “Tell Them Johnny Wadd Is Here."

The “Debbie Does Dallas” comic was written by Brian Ferrara and illustrated by Rolo Ledesma, with colors by Narek Gevorgian and color separation by Joe Frazzetta and Keith McCleary.

The 20-page limited edition comic is priced at $6.95. It can be pre-ordered at the Terminal Press website, and also will be available at the Arrow Productions booth at Adult Entertainment Expo in January.
