Don't confuse Tommy Kaye Productions with a typical startup, a representative said, as Kaye's had more than 12 years under his belt directing and producing quality adult programming.
The creator of the "Twisted Tommy" and "Rusty Boner" video lines also directed for Legend Video, Puritan International, Nitro, Arrow, Odyssey Group and Casso Rosso Amsterdam. In addition to his X-rated cred, Kaye also has a background in mainstream video production and engineering.
"'The Collectors' bridges the gap between the production values of feature movies with the hardcore sex of gonzo," Kaye said. "Storylines, great sex and high production values — it's a mix that more and more consumers are demanding. We test marketed 'The Collectors' by allowing randomly selected gonzo fans the opportunity to screen and review the DVD before its release.
"The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive from both the fans and video reviewers. I chat almost daily with the fans through various online adult fan forums. I hear over and over that the consumers wish to see quality and creativity as well as nasty, hardcore sex. All of our upcoming titles will be produced with that high standard in mind."
Upcoming titles also will feature packaging that will pop from store shelves, the company said.
"We intentionally gave the 'The Collectors' packaging a retro '80s look and feel. Some of my favorite movies were produced in that era. Also, when I walk into a video store all the packaging looks the same. We are attempting to be different and stand out from the sea of sameness," Kaye said.
Some aspects the company has planned include the upcoming title "Country Fresh" including a car air freshener and "Derriere Digest" integrating an eight page mini-magazine featuring a centerfold into its cover.
"The DVD packaging is part of the overall buying experience that's lost with video on demand or broadcast delivery," Kaye said. "We want the experience that consumers have with Tommy Kaye Productions to not only be enticing from what they see on the DVD, but from the moment they pick it up."
