Update: Identity of College-Porn Producer Revealed

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Oakland (Mich.) Press has tracked down the producer who has been recruiting Michigan college students to perform in gay adult films.

Derek Ward, owner of production company MidwestXBois.com, told the newspaper that for several months he has posted flyers inviting young men to make extra money by appearing in his films on the campuses of the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University and Ward State University.

Ward also said he is holding on-campus promotional events every Saturday in April at Eastern Michigan University.

He calls the recruitment effort the “College Campus Invasion Tour,” which has no relation to the popular Shane’s World Productions “College Invasion” series.

Ward films content in “bathrooms, dorm rooms… study halls and libraries,” he said. “It’s just a bunch of guys looking to show off on campus.” Ward added that he pays models $50-$300 per shoot.

Michigan law makes no provisions regarding production of adult films, but XBiz reported last week that administrators at several Michigan colleges had warned students that taping or performing in adult films on campus violates school policies and could result in expulsion.

“If we discovered such an activity taking place, we would take action to stop it immediate,” said University of Michigan spokesperson Julie Peterson.

“We are disturbed this individual would target members of our community for his activities. The young people targeted by this individual are at a stage where they may just be beginning to develop an understanding of their identity and sexuality.”

Nonetheless, campus porn has become a thriving niche in recent years, albeit a controversial one.

Shane’s World has had success with its “College Invasion” series but set off a storm of controversy in 2003 when officials from both Indiana University and Arizona State University tried to hunt down and kick production crews off campus.

More recently, a fraternity at California State University, Chico, was suspended for its part in a Shane’s World shoot.
