New Frontier Media, Brickhouse Readying for Mobile Launch

BOULDER, Colo. — Brickhouse Mobile and New Frontier Media are finalizing plans for a rollout of mobile adult content, XBiz has learned.

The companies — both from Colorado — announced last month a five-year deal to develop and distribute TEN-branded mobile content worldwide. With the deal, Brickhouse was tapped as New Frontier’s exclusive developer and promoter of wireless applications.

Brickhouse Mobile spokesman Ed Baran told XBiz that announcement next week will spell out a timetable for the launch, as well as specific content. The companies are pushing for a spring launch.

The TEN wireless offerings will feature adult videos, celebrity voice tones and sexy wallpapers, as well as casino and action games with celebrity talent.

Content will be available for sale through websites, WAP sites, Java applications and BREW applications in both U.S. and international markets.

New Frontier expects a new revenue stream with wireless adult service, a sector that is forecast to generate $1.9 billion in worldwide revenues by 2008, according to Juniper Research.

In Europe, consumers who are purchasing adult content on their cellphones are spending an average of $34 a year, Juniper reports.

In another forecast, The Yankee Group said that ringtones are expected to grow to $1 billion by 2008. In 2003, they generated $80 million in revenue.

"This is yet another example of how we are focused on using our existing content and state-of-the-art technical infrastructure to take advantage of new distribution opportunities and generate incremental revenue for the company," TEN President Ken Boenish said. “The Brickhouse team has successfully promoted mainstream branded content around the world, and we intend to fully leverage their experience as well as their relationships with the major carriers."

In the last two weeks, the companies have been on the road introducing the project to carriers and partners. On Wednesday, the companies hosted an event at Rick's Cabaret in New Orleans; last week they hosted a golf event.

Brickhouse and New Frontier are ramping up festivities at the Ritz Carlton Club in Jupiter, Fla., on March 16-19. The event for carriers and partners will include roundtrip airfare, golf, food and drink.
