Among the award nominees, Van Nuys, Calif.-based Digital Playground received 14 nominations for "Virtual Sex with Briana Banks" and "Island Fever 3," which received nominations for “Best Overall DVD” and “Best DVD Extras."
Other nominees for "Best Overall Video" include "Bella Loves Jenna," by Club Jenna; "Eye of the Beholder" by Wicked Pictures; "Gina Lynn's Dark Side" by Evil Angel; "Groupie Love" by Digital Sin; "The Masseuse" by Club Jenna; "Millionaire" by Private USA; and "Tera Tera Tera" by Vivid Entertainment.
The AdultVideo Empire awards began five years ago in recognition of excellence in adult DVD production. Nominees in 18 different categories are selected by the company's editorial staff and winners are decided by votes from Adult DVD Empire’s staff of in-house reviewers as well as external DVD reviewers.
Additionally, AdultDVD Empire website visitors can vote for the "Viewer’s Choice Award," although only one vote per email address is accepted.
Winners will be announced at a so-far undetermined date in March, the company said.
“We believe that this year’s nominees are outstanding selections in their respective categories and really showcase some of the advancements adult DVD has made in the past year,” Adult DVD Empire publicist JT Smith said.
