Indonesia Cracks Down On Porn
JAKARTA: Police in the Indonesian capitol have made a recent series of raids, resulting in the arrests of 82 people.

Seized in the raids which were held recently and during this past September, were over 1,700 Digital Video Discs (DVDs) along with more than 71,000 Compact Video Discs (VCDs) allegedly featuring pornographic material.

At a press conference announcing the raid, city police special crimes chief Sr. Comr. Edmon Ilyas identified Mal Pinangsia, Mangga Dua and Gajah Mada Plaza in West Jakarta and Jatinegara in East Jakarta, as where the majority of arrests were made.

Facing a maximum penalty of 32 months in jail, the suspects are charged with violating Article 282 of the Criminal Code on pornography.
