AIM Closing Woodland Hills Clinic Saturdays
The decision is a consolidation effort by AIM because the Sherman Oaks clinic was short staffed on Saturdays and did not draw enough patients to justify hours.
"There’s a small amount of patients at Woodland Hills,” an AIM assistant told XBiz. “We needed the extra person over here,” she added, referring to AIM's Sherman Oaks clinic where demand for medical attention is far greater.
The Woodland Hills location opened Jan. 20, 2003, and is located at 19720 Ventura Blvd.
The Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation tests adult industry performers for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Sharon Mitchell, who leads the nine-employee organization, told XBiz the clinic walks a tightrope each month with its lean $1.4 million budget and tries to make up deficits with donations.
Mitchell said AIM charges actors up to $110 to test for HIV and other STDs and screens about 1,200 adult movie performers per month at its two clinics.
AIM’s Sherman Oaks clinic is open for testing on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. On weekdays, the Sherman Oaks location is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
