Korean Political Rivals Use Porn in Smear Campaign
A political parody showed up on the official website of South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun featuring the chairperson of the Grand National Party, a female, semi-naked and in bed with a man reading a popular anti-government conservative newspaper.
The image was reportedly taken from a Korean porn movie poster and remained posted on the site for an estimated 20 hours before it was taken down.
President Roh Moo-hyun claims to have had no involvement, although he is known for similarly crass jabs at critics of his presidency.
The woman featured in the softcore image was Park Geun-hye, leader of the Korean National Party.
Park was quoted as saying that her opponent's act was "senseless and deplorable."
"Political parodies have occurred before, but this case is serious because it degrades women," Park said in a statement.
In response to the website scandal, President Roh Moo-hyun said that he would reprimand two of his officials responsible for the posting.
