Barnett, whose real name is Brad Wagner, starred in nearly 26 adult films, including “Billy’s Tale” from Falcon Video, “Thriller” from Huge Video, “An Officer and His Gentlemen” from Celsius Video and “Dynastud No. 2” from HIS Video.
Barnett, 36, worked as a real estate agent in Glenwood Springs, Colo., until his arrest on June 11 for the decade-old assaults. He is being held in Boulder County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Boulder police say he starred in the gay porn movies at the same time as the five rapes. From 1993 to 1998, Barnett broke into women’s apartments, generally through a sliding glass door, police say.
Detectives were able to match DNA evidence by posing as a customer. They gathered his DNA from the handle of a bicycle, a handshake with an undercover detective and the front door of his home. The samples reportedly matched DNA found on one of the victims.
Police in Austin, Texas, are also checking Barnett's DNA for a similar assault there in 1995.
During the 1990s, Barnett moved around Colorado, living in Boulder, Denver, Lakewood and Steamboat Springs.
The gay porn actor has been convicted of burglaries, thefts and DUIs in at least six states.
